Room 501, Monday night

Cecil packed up his stuff...well, more or less neatly. Sort of. He didn't anticipate being gone long, but just in case, he didn't want to leave a mess. He'd e-mailed all his friends to let them know, and now just had this last thing to do. There were so far a small pile of things to take home, and a larger pile of things to leave for now. Foucault was watching with interest and poking his nose in all the bags to help.

"Foucault!" Cecil said for the fortieth time. "Behave, or I'll never finish before our portal comes!"

"So you're headed home, huh?" Raven didn't bother knocking, no. "Leaving us all alone without anyone to broadcast the weather report or remind us that mountains might not be real."

[voiceoverdue]

"Not for long!" Cecil protested. "I hope." He sighed. "But I'll call you to warn you mountains still aren't real!" he added with a small grin.

[tigerundercover]

"Well, so long as you're not going to abandon me completely." Raven grinned. "You excited to see Carlos?"

[voiceoverdue]

"Definitely." Cecil's grin turned a little dopey-but-worried (it was a talent) for a second before he shook himself. "Should I send Hiram McDaniels your regards?"

[tigerundercover]

"My five headed role model," Raven said. "Definitely. Especially the purple head, he was a sweetie."

[voiceoverdue]

"Especially purple." Cecil nodded. "Got it." He smiled at her. "You're nifty. I'll miss you."

[tigerundercover]

"I'll miss you, too," Raven said. "Bring me lots of postcards when you get back?"

[voiceoverdue]

"Definitely!" Cecil scrambled up and looked hopeful. "Can we get hugs?"

"All the hugs," Raven said. "I'll even grow extra arms for them, if you like."

[voiceoverdue]

"As many as you like!" Cecil said happily. He tugged at Foucault and the bird came along too, though he was better at getting hugs than giving them.

Raven was okay with that. Getting a hug from a giant bird would probably be a little bit strange.

She grew an extra pair of arms -- just the one for now, to try it out, and gave both of them a big hug.

"You promise it's just for a little while?" she asked softly.

[voiceoverdue]

"I promise I hope it is?" Cecil hugged back. "I just have to know what's going on back home."

[tigerundercover]

"I guess they don't have a good radio person to tell you all about it, if you're here."

[voiceoverdue]

"Right." Cecil nodded decisively. "So I just need to go and be a journalist. And then I can report back." To himself, but whatever.
