"Good morning, everyone," Steve said with a bright smile. "I'm looking forward to seeing your final showstoppers."

"And, because this is your final class of the semester, we've decided to let you all try each other's pavlovas as we put on a movie," Tony said. Because that was the sort of thing everyone needed for finals week.

"Maybe our next class can make French dinners..."

Steve, no. But also, Steve, yes!

"Maybe," Tony said, sounding interested in something neither of them could plausibly do without setting something on fire once they were distracted.

Oh God, the flambés.

"We'll think about it," Steve decided.

"So, everyone settle in for a nice, easy day," Tony said.

"We're nice like that," Steve added.

"Today we're going someplace with no children," Jon announced. Look, sue him, he was still recuperating. His "child" had been very high-energy.

"I hope you brought bathing suits (as he had handwavily advised), but if not, there's plenty of relaxing to do on the beach."

He waved them through the portal, beelined for a lounge chair, and lay down.

Which meant he wasn't paying enough attention to realize that suits wouldn't be a problem, as this was a clothing-optional beach.

It was possible he'd looked up "adult-only beaches" and just picked the first one that looked good.

Enjoy!

For better or for worse, Summer had definitely been working through some of her recent feelings through her jello shots this week. It was honestly the perfect kind of personal therapy. She got to do something to distract her, she got to do some research for ideas and challenge herself to make them happen, and then she got to post pictures of the results on her socials and get almost instant validation and praise. All that internet clout and fake likes improved her mood substantially, and she came into the bar wit ha singsong warning to Tino that if he did anything to rock the delicate balance of her current good mood, he would regret it.

That seemed to work well enough, and now Summer was trying to think of the best way to display some of her shots here in the bar because they looked amazing and needed to be admired, thank you.

*chittering*

*thud, as if a squirrel was just backhanded*

Good morning to everyone not named Leroy. It’s Wednesday and I’m here so let’s talk about Tuesday so I can get away from squirrels. Especially Leroy.

*sullen chittering*

I’ll do it again.

Right. At the school, there were absurd trust falls in Friendship is Magic! that were not at all magical and Anakin threw me off a roof.

*gleeful chittering*
*a stomp*
*sullen chittering*

In Raving Royals and How to Survive Them there were discussions of revolutions and what makes them work, or useful.

Nothing from the dorms, sorry porg, maybe you can take over some of Leroy’s note taking duties on Tuesday’s and then keep him away from me on Wednesdays.

Until then, news from the town. Cutter and Connor were packing up to leave the island to go home until the fall.
Pam appeared suddenly in front of Pick Your Poison. Just appeared? All right. Nell was working in her greenhouse for part of the day. At Groovy Tunes Charlie was singing along with all of the songs playing. Remy was in Needful Things which was very normal and that is not a normal note but fine and selling pottery that might be radioactive. How is that normal? Never mind.

And at Caritas Kitty was ‘Having A Day’ which sounds unpleasant and then she had to deal with Tino, too? I’m sorry, Kitty.

That’s all I have for yesterday. I’ll be back next week, I assume. Unless something else changes.

Hey there Fandom. What up, it's ya girl, Arden Finch and...okay, folks weren't kidding about how rough the day after sending the kids home is, were they?

Uh, let's get through this stuff real quick, okay? School had Earth Cultures visiting caves underground, which was less a hit with Lydia's kids than maybe expected, and Habits of Highly Efficient People watched their favorite movie.

No Dorms, and in Town, it was all kids all the time. Vi was balancing watching her kids and making sure the gremlins' game didn't get out of hand at the Magpie Emporium, Professor Sims was at The Perk with his child looking for tea, and while Professor James Stark didn't have kids with him at the Clinic, Stabby the crab did. Pizza Planet was offering free kid-sized pizzas - too bad no free waffles, Raiden's are the best - and Dr. Blake was watching his kids battle up and down the park. Ms. Nell enjoyed hot tub time later last night, asking Professor Amicitia about Professors Vess and Scientia.

And, yeah, that's all I got. So this is ya girl, Arden Finch, signing off.

*chittering*

Oh, music? I dunno. I didn't pick anything out. You play something or whatever.

*sound of a door closing and then Motownphilly by Boyz II Men begins to play*

[and once again, I learn the lesson that I actually have to hit post.]

Class today met in the Danger Shop... which looked suspiciously like their classroom. Cushions, divans, tables at varying heights, coffee, teas, fruit, all of it.

"Over the last few weeks, I have given you some examples of rulers who have gone mad or at least mad for power," Ghanima stated once everyone had arrived. "To be honest, the best way to survive such a monarch is to quite simply keep your head down. If you don't make waves, you'll probably survive the experience. Some may call this cowardly, but it is common sense. Unless you have some way to change the status quo, your best option is to try and wait it out."

If history teaches us anything, it is simply this: every revolution carries within it the seeds of its own destruction. And empires that rise, will one day fall. )

"Remember – sometimes a failed revolution can do just as much good as a successful one, if you play your cards right. However, is a dead revolutionary really a successful one, even if his or her cause succeeds?" Ghanima leaned back against her desk, neon eyes swirling. "I will leave that up for you to decide."

The shop was pretty much exactly how Remy expected it to be when he came in today.

Suspiciously so.

He navigated his way gingerly through the chaotic displays of random junk and sat with with back against a wall, watching . . . more chaotic displays of random junk.

Look, things didn't tend to stay normal for long, in Remy's experience. Okay? Anyway. Have a sale on, uhhhh, fiestaware. In all its radioactive glory.

Kitty was having one of those days where nothing was going right, where she'd spilled badly-needed coffee and the kid had an attitude and it was a special kind of annoying to snag your clothes on the doorknob while phasing through the physical door. That kind of day.

And then she walked into the bar seconds after Tino dropped a tray of glasses. Cool. Cool cool cool. Doing great today.

"Welcome to our final exam," Anakin said, standing casually on the edge of multistory building.

Ahsoka didn't seem particularly fazed by the height either. "Friendship is ultimately about trust. Trust that someone will be there for you when it really matters."

Anakin nodded. "When you are on a precipice," he said. "Metaphorical or not."

"Will they be there to catch you?" Or yeet you off. Or both!

The class may have been starting to realise this was a very unmetaphorical precipice.

Anakin wasn't great with symbolism. "Sometimes a friend can be both," he said. "The catalyst of change and the one to catch and ease the landing."

Someone was going off this roof.

"And the more people you're able to extend that trust towards, the larger your web of support grows."

Multiple someones, even.

"Because even when you can save yourself, you don't always have to," Anakin said, giving Ahsoka a Force-shove off the roof for the far from first time.

Not that Ahsoka seems too worried about that as she turned that shove into a acrobatic swan dive.

Theirs was a dramatic lineage.

Shocking. "Friendship," Anakin concluded.

Nell was busily working both out front and out back today. Occasionally someone stopping by might see a sign saying that she was up at the greenhouse and would be back shortly.

Lots and lots to do!

Especially if she wanted to be able to take her usual tea and a book break in the late afternoon.

A portal in a hunting shack in the middle of a bog. If that wasn't layers on layers of security, then Pam didn't know what was. It would keep her close to Harley without putting Harley in unnecessary danger - and give her somewhere to escape to if she needed to.

Funnily enough, though, it wasn't getting the portal installed that turned out to be the problem with the plan. The problem had been Croc.

"... Sorry about that. You caught me by surprise."

"You surprised me first," Pam had muttered, picking herself up off the floor, her gut still aching from that haymaker. "Sorry about your face."

"Ah, it's nothing. Takes more than that to bring me down."

... well, he'd been a problem for about a minute. They'd settled affairs quickly, and then Pam... had gotten to work.

A few hours later, she took the portal for a spin. Two steps through the back wall of the house, which was covered in vines, and-- here she was. Standing in front of Pick Your Poison, her hands on her hips. "Convenient," she murmured.

Well.

Might as well go through the shop, and see if everything was still intact.

Thor had insisted Don ought to spend some time with the children, or at least Torben, who was apparently Don and Thor's son. Thor had tried to find out how, but all the kid knew was that Thor would tell him when he was older. (Sigrid had sighed, "Probably Uncle Loki was involved," and everyone had had to agree that was a good guess.)

He was very tight-mouthed about what Don had said on the matter, or where Don was in general. He actually seemed kind of wary of Don since he and Thor had swapped places yesterday. The girls had greeted him enthusiastically, though, which was nice, and all three kids got along like a house afire.

Which was why he'd brought them to the park to burn off some energy, lest they set the baby Stark Tower afire. It had already been a close call a couple of times.

As he sipped from his Starbucks cup and watched a three-way mock battle rage across the grass, it occurred to him to wonder, "Those swords aren't edged, are they?"

They will be fine.

"Okay, that doesn't answer my question..."

Hello islanders and all the small children around who keep wanting to pet my dog. You are not allowed to pet my dog. Stay away from my dog. You can however harass all the squirrels you want.

There is no school, there was nothing going on in the dorms so I'm going to ignore the strange bird's tears and go directly to town:

Starting off yesterday, Lydia took her entire brood of children to J'Gob for treats in honor of a holiday involving a bunny. Adrian arrived to learn he was an uncle... I'm not sure how that works. Jon and his child, which according to the description here is the result of him getting together with a Rorschach test, also met with Lydia and her children.

Summer was apparently celebrating a different holiday by partaking of and I quote "The Devil's Cabbage". I don't know what that means. Did Lucifer make cole slaw? I don't understand. Oh, and apparently James showed up with brownies and everybody was awkward with each other. For the record, the rest of the island wasn't awkward, just the two of them.

Finally, Octavia was out in the middle of the preserve doing some gardening.

That's all I got. Have a good Monday or whatever and stay the hell away from my dog.

Stark had ended up falling asleep on Summer's couch yesterday after the brownies had proven potent. He might have been helped along, too. He wasn't sure. In any case he'd woken up this morning with a blanket covering him and gone home to shower quickly and change before heading in to the clinic.

Stabby's half-lobster children had made another appearance this weekend and Stabby was happily engrossed in entertaining them when Stark arrived bearing coffees.

He made his hellos, admired the young crustaceans, and settled in at the desk.

One of the nurses kept giving him odd glances and looking at the door.

"No children for me this time," he said quietly. "It was... quiet."

The clinic was open, the crab had visitors, and the alien was in.

Raiden hadn't had any kids visit this weekend, but he hadn't expected any, either. That was one of the benefits of being super gay and pretty much eternally single.

It would have been interesting to see what a child of his might have been like, though. He knew his brothers who were into women had always been real careful about not reproducing, out of concern their curse might be passed down in some form. Maybe they could answer that question in advance! But apparently not this year. Oh, well.

"Yes, Nex," Jon told the exhaustingly enthusiastic being he was chaperoning. "You can have more tea."

Today was national tea day back home, apparently. Jon was all about the tea. Especially the caffeine at this time of morning. He was mostly over the horror of an eldritch being thinking of him as a parental figure, but it could take years to regain the energy he was having to spend keeping up with them.

"Two London fogs, please," he told the bemused barista. Then he'd collapse into a chair.

Vi had brought the girls along to work with her today, much to Saffron's utter dismay.

Bad enough she had to share Snuggle Human with anyone, let alone a pair of human kittens (she was blaming Food Human for how very loud the smaller one was). No she would not be mollified but the sheer number of treats and ear scritchings the taller one provided! No, she wasn't purring, you were purring.

As for Vi, she'd just gotten the girls settled in the mini-painting area when the gremlins' fungus zombie game suddenly turned vicious, so she and Little Bot would be taking care of that for a while.

Your teachers thankfully had no children. Your classroom had no teachers. Almost like they wanted to avoid even the possibility of coming in contact with them.

There was however various juice boxes, snacks and a movie playing.

What? It wasn't like they'd been planing an actual final even if the island hadn't been invaded by children, and it was valuable to learn certain lessons young.
